Through the acquisition of Steenbergen, E. van Wijk Group strengthens its distribution network in the Benelux region. IRIS CF supported the shareholder of E. van Wijk Group throughout the acquisition process.
Steenbergen Transport
Since its founding in 1907, Steenbergen has grown into a leading player in the (inter)national transport sector. What began as a local transport company has developed into a robust logistics organization with a strong network across the Benelux. With its headquarters in Bodegraven and additional locations in Meppel, Venlo, and the Belgian cities of Wommelgem and Chaineux, Steenbergen operates five strategically positioned depots. From these locations, more than 300 dedicated employees deploy approximately 180 transport units on a daily basis.
Steenbergen specializes in 24-hour distribution of shipments (+30 kg) within the Benelux. In addition to standard shipments, Steenbergen is also active in the transportation of ADR goods (hazardous materials). Thanks to a renowned internal training program, Steenbergen employs well-trained drivers and staff who meet the highest standards.

E. van Wijk Group
E. van Wijk Group (EVW) is a family-owned business founded by Ewout van Wijk Sr. and has been active in the logistics sector since 1948. The company has shown strong historical growth, partly due to several strategic acquisitions. In addition to its traditional (asset-heavy) transport and warehousing services, EVW began focusing in 2014 on the asset-light segment of forwarding, based on supply chain management and value creation through knowledge and network. That year, it acquired two smaller companies, Himex and Sintra, followed by the larger acquisition of Twentepoort Group in mid-2019. In 2021, RUGO Logistics (Forwarding) and Ryano Logistics (Specials) joined the group, with Eljo Exalto Transport (Specials) being added in early 2025.
The group of companies focuses on road transportation, complemented by supply chain services such as warehousing and customs support. With locations in several European countries (Netherlands, Poland and Romania) and a small branch in western Ukraine (L’viv), EVW aims to serve the corridor between the North Sea and the Caspian Sea for its client base. Through the acquisition of Steenbergen, E. van Wijk remains future-proof in a market that demands scale and network strengthening.
